About 6 to 7 years ago I wrote a blog about our 7 month cruise down the east coast and back. So thought I'd try it again … with a few exceptions: tiny blog. short trip. Maybe about 2 weeks - you never can tell when boating. Schedules are almost impossible. Boats break down … people break down (but let's not go there until we're actually underway).
1st leg of the cruise: Looking forward to a 3 hour cruise (yes, Gilligan is ringing in my ears) today to Kingston, Ontario for the annual Blues Fest. We have gone for 18 years and have, on rare occasions, even seen a Blues show. We go for the boating experience and, if you know Ted, this is not a surprise. The joy is in seeing fellow boaters from other marinas, seeing boats you like to drool over and the supreme accomplishment of being able to dock in the renown windy city of Kingston. We've never met anyone who is comfortable with docking there -. ALWAYS a wind and we all have "memorable" Kingston docking stories! Accompanying us for this leg of the trip will be Pam Frisch - friend, boater and Gourmet. Pam will be with us until Sunday. She actually knows we are NOT 'Gourmets' and still puts up with our limited palates. Pam is known as T.O.W. (Ted's Other Wife [just a nickname, folks]), as Pammie or as 'Crazy'. All apply.
To prepare for this cruise, one goes to B.J.s and Wegman's, buys enough food for one month and then makes reservations for all 3 nights of our Kingston stay. I figure food must have been withheld from both Ted and me as children as we both need backups for all meals and cocktail hours. We also tend to believe there will never be a near-by store. We got hairtcuts and I got a pedicure (UGH!). And this is only for a 2 week cruise. Ted has worked for days on cleaning the boat and isinglass. I have done my fair share of work on the inside. You see, T.O.W. is a great 'cleaner' - and now I'm thinking I really don't know what I was thinking when we invited her.
You wouldn't believe the freezer |
After Kingston, the plan is to come back to A-Bay to drop Pam off, then on to Montreal, Ottawa, Westport, down the Rideau Canal, back to Kingston and home to Alexandria Bay. We will be underway shortly. Looks like a good cruising day.
Feel free to say 'hello' in the comments below.
