For those who don’t know, we are cruising on our ‘old girl’
Simple Pleasures . She is a 1986 45’ Jefferson. Old but we love her. Ted found her in 2002 and we brought her to Alexandria Bay in 2003 from
Port Clinton OH. She is
home and she just ‘fits us’. I find that most of our friends’ boats do the
same. Each boat is so different but exactly fits the owner’s boating lifestyle.
This cruise was scheduled for June but, because of high water, had to be
rescheduled. Simple Pleasures could not get out of our boathouse because the davit and radar were too high to go under the overhang. Lady K and Kathy's Sanity were hoping to take this trip with us - always such fun when there is a floatilla - but having to reschedule prevented it. Glad Lady K could at least make it to Kingston this weekend. Hoping this little cruise will be reminiscent of our 7 month "Big Trip" down the east coast - one that we truly do cherish.

I may not post every day as life gets in the way and wi-fi is terrible. Ted bought a Simcard
which should help in Canada but I have no idea what that is or why it should
help. He is SO patient with me when it
comes to ‘techie’ things. I refused to
get a laptop for years and then he gave me one for Christmas. I refused to get
a cell phone for years and then he gave me one for my birthday. Now I am addicted to both of these technical
monsters. My theory is … Ted, you gave
them to me….now deal with my inane questions and problems. And he always-very patiently- complies. I AM
wondering if he has a few regrets though and will kill me in my sleep.
I see there are some comments on the blog and I love getting them. However, I am having difficulty 'replying'. So, again, I will ask my tech expert and hopefully respond. Ted just told me that, while on the Canadian
phone plan, I can text out but it will show up as a different phone number
beginning with 343. You can reply to the same number. For some unknown reason to me, however, I cannot receive texts. You may contact me on Facebook’s “messenger”
- and I am so impressed with ME that I even know what that means.
After a maple bacon and eggs breakfast featuring Pam’s
homemade Maine blueberry/lemon glaze pound cake, Pam and I went on errands to the
bank, grocery store (do you believe it – like we don’t have ENOUGH food!), Pan
Chancho bakery, and a few ladies’ shoppes which called out to Pam.
On a July trip to Kingston this year, friends
Kate and Lynn pointed out a beautiful
dress in a shop window. I fell in love with it
and went in the shop to learn the price. As it was $1800 I did not buy it – not
that I EVER could. But Kate figures, that by not purchasing it, I can now spend
that money on other things. Love the way that lady thinks! We stopped to see Joe and Deb's new custom table and upholstery. SO beautiful ! Oh, how I miss my table on the Aft.

On our return to the boat with our wares, we ran into Brad
and Sandy (Summer Sled). Not only were they marina-mates but Sandy was a student at Jamesville-DeWitt where I taught....a long long looong time ago. Pam and I decided to pick up Ted and go to Jack
Astor’s rooftop for a light lunch. Once back to the boat, however, our plans
went awry and we settled in for a quiet afternoon. Ted worked on technical stuff, Pam took a nap and I read. And the weather
turned quite cool as the day wore on.
Tonight we had dinner at The Keg – Pam’s ‘pick’. It is a steakhouse and we loved our dinners. We opted to share a Crème Brulee for
dessert forgoing Mio Gelato and, after visiting Milestones, headed back to the boat. Again….our
wrist bands to see the bands were for nought.
As I said, we stink at going to Blues shows.
